TO THE EDITOR:
(On Dec. 2) one of my friends had over $1,000 worth of possessions stolen out of her car outside my house on McMasters Street.
Thieves have broken into my car three times this semester.
Pizza delivery chains continue to keep blacklists of streets such as North Graham and Sykes to which their drivers are forbidden from delivering because of safety issues.
Not to mention the apparent tacit consent to the existence of known drug houses on several area streets.
Unfortunately, the Chapel Hill Police Department does not make addressing these problems a priority. Instead, Chapel Hill police spend their time issuing open alcohol container citations and finding underage partyers.
My point is this: Directing resources primarily toward petty crimes does not make Chapel Hill a safer place to live. Step up to the plate, CHPD.
Do your job and stop the real crime.
