The Chapel Hill Police Department was given the “North Carolina Traffic Safe Community of the Year” award for the third time in the last five years.
The award is given based on the number of officers per capita, community crash statistics and the town’s formal traffic safety programs.
Chapel Hill police has been one of the top five North Carolina communities for the last seven years.
