Man on the Street: What is your craziest selfie story?

Last week, Mashable released a study that revealed just how dangerous taking selfies can be. It concluded that so far in 2015, there were 50 percent more deaths involving selfies (12) than sharks (8).

Assistant Arts & Entertainment Editor Ryan Schocket asked UNC students, "What is your craziest selfie story?"

“I’m in an a cappella group called Psalm 100. Two years ago, we sang at Sunset Serenade. I sang a solo, and it was very bad. I totally lost my voice — it was so bad. I knew it was going to be bad. Right before, I decided to take a selfie with everyone in the crowd, and then I just sucked up the solo. And now, I have a memory of it.”

— Anna Nudo, senior, exercise and sports science

“I actually got caught taking a Snapchat selfie today in class, and it was the most horrible thing on this planet.”

—Ada Morava, junior, communication studies

“I was taking a selfie for a really long time, and making sure my hair was on point and that I looked great. I was checking myself in the selfie camera, and then after I took it, the girl behind me caught me. She was looking at me the whole time. It was really embarrassing.

— Miguel Vasquez, junior, biology

“I was in Vietnam this summer, and some people asked to get a selfie with me. Soon, a whole line formed, and I became an instant celebrity.”

— Olivia Sawh, senior, biology

“I got a selfie with a lemur once — it was really fun.”

—Molly Irwin, sophomore, biology
