Residents weigh in: Why are you voting early this year?

Early voting is happening all this week until March 12 for the North Carolina primary, which will be held on March 15. Staff writer Burhan Kadibhai asked students and residents why they decided to cast their ballots early.

Anne Brashear, retired school counselor

"I like the idea of getting it done before the crowds hit. I've always done early voting."

Ben Roberts, UNC sophomore majoring in economics and political science

"We won't be here during spring break, which is when voting is."

Danielle Adler, UNC sophomore majoring in political science and peace, war and defense

"I think it's really important to bring students in to voting, and I really care about this election. I think it's going to change our foreign policy, and I'm really excited to vote."

Jason Tilghman, IT product manager

"We're voting early to fulfill our civic duty and avoid any impediments with the crowds."

Carol Kelly, communications project manager

"It's convenient to vote early and you feel like you're avoiding future glitches."
