What's going on this weekend: Sept. 9-11 edition

The weekend is coming up and everyone is excited to take a well-deserved break from school. Or just a break from school. Check out these fun events where you could do anything — paint a picture of the Old Well or watch your favorite wrestler throw down in the ring.

On Campus:

Art a la Carte: Paint the Old Well en Plein Air

When: Saturday, Sept. 10; 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Ackland Art Museum (101 S. Columbia St.)

Price: $10 for each session; all materials provided

Love painting and UNC? Then this is the perfect event for you. Each Art a la Carte session begins at the Ackland Art Museum, where students will be able to view exhibits and get an idea of the types of paintings that they want to create. The painting session will take place in a studio in the Hanes Art Center.

Around Chapel Hill:

Thank You Scientist

When: Saturday, Sept. 10; doors open at 7:30 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.

Where: Local 506 (506 W. Franklin St.)

Price: $10 to $12

Thank You Scientist is an American progressive rock band based in Montclair, New Jersey. Imagine if Moon Taxi and The Strokes had a love child.
