Approximately 16,000 people turned out on Hooker Fields to see President Obama speak on Wednesday.

More than 60 people were seen by medics at the rally with President Barack Obama Wednesday.

Officials didn't say the cause of the medical issues, but the unusually hot weather caused issues for many people in the crowd. Obama, folk singer James Taylor and senate candidate Deborah Ross all commented on the importance of staying safe in the heat.

Two ambulances were stationed at Hooker Fields, and emergency services were provided by Orange County Emergency Services, South Orange Rescue Squad and Chapel Hill Fire Department according to Matthew Mauzy, chief of the South Orange Rescue Squad.
