A Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools teacher and his wife, a UNC Health System employee, were both arrested on assault charges Saturday, Sept. 30 after a domestic violence dispute arose between the couple.
John Anthony Crusoe, 42, was charged with assault on a female, and Kara Ann Crusoe, 37 was charged with assault and battery. The couple was released on bond from the Orange County Jail on Monday, Oct. 2.
“He will be suspended with pay, pending investigation,” said Jeff Nash, a spokesperson for CHCCS. The length of the suspension is unknown.
John Anthony Crusoe, has worked for the school district since 2015. Currently he works as an exceptional education teacher at Guy B. Phillips Middle School. He teaches five classes, all for the eighth grade: two English language arts classes, two math collaborative classes and one academic success class.
Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Chapel Hill Police responded to a domestic disturbance call.
