Forward Luke Maye (32) takes a shot against Boston College on Dec. 9 in the Smith Center. Maye finished with career highs in points (32) and rebounds (18).

Forward Luke Maye was named as only one of two ACC players to appear on the John R. Wooden Award late-season watch list Monday night.

The junior, who did not appear on the award's preseason list, is one of 20 players from around the country to be recognized as notable players at this point in the season.

Maye leads the Tar Heels in scoring and rebounding this season with 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. He has 12 double-doubles, 11 games with 20 or more points and seven games with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior guard Joel Berry II, who appeared on the preseason and midseason list, did not appear on the updated list.

Duke's first-year Marvin Bagley III was the only other ACC player to be named to the list. The two ACC rival players will square off Thursday night in Chapel Hill when No. 9 Duke visits No. 21 UNC in the Dean Dome.
