The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that took place early Monday morning.

The robbery took place at the CVS at the corner of Fordham Blvd. and Ephesus Church Road around 2:30 a.m.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the suspects to Chapel Hill Police as three black males wearing dark clothing and masks. Two of them were carrying a firearm. The K-9 team lead officers to the University Inn area across the street, where they believe the suspects fled the scene.

According to Ran Northam, communications representative for the Town of Chapel Hill, the Chapel Hill Police Department did not have any leads that could be shared with the press. The police continue to work on the case.

There was also a similar instance that occurred in Raleigh about an hour after the case was reported, however Chapel Hill Police cannot verify that the two crimes are connected.

Anybody with additional information about the case is encouraged to contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760. People can also call Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515, which is a confidential hotline. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
