“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged”, the longest running comedy in London’s West End, was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield and will be directed by Rod Rich of Actors Comedy Lab. All Shakespeare lovers, this one is a must.

The ArtsCenter hosts a community celebration of the life and work of Woody Guthrie, who would have been 100 years old in 2012.

“Nina Simone…What More Can I Say?” One-Act, One-Woman Play

Continuing with the Nina Simone celebration is the 2-night run of a one-woman play about Simone. The Stone Center commissioned an original one-act play by award-winning playwright and poet, Howard Craft, a Durham resident and the artist-in-residence in Spring 2012. Craft’s one-act, one-woman play stars actress and singer Yolanda Rabun as Nina Simone and is directed by UNC alum and faculty member Kathryn Williams.

The National Theatre of Scotland returns to Carolina Performing Arts after their performances of Black Watch in 2011, this time with David Greig’s award-winning The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart.

Old-Time and Bluegrass Slow Jam

Grab your fiddle, guitar, banjo, or mandolin and come on down to the Old-Time and Bluegrass Slow Jam! Listen to some old time and bluegrass favorites! Fiddler Emma Lo will lead the sessions and there will be chord and lyric sheets available to help with unfamiliar tunes. Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time player, bassist or vocalist, this jam will be an opportunity to hone your skills, meet some other musicians and have a lot of fun.

Hanes Visiting Artist Lecture: Ruben Ochoa

Ruben Ochoa’s recent work investigates urban locations under contention and the physicality of space as defined by its boundaries. He looks closely at the nature of dislocation and displacement within an urban environment. Ochoa’s use of industrial, outdoor, and civil engineering materials emphasizes his concern with sculpture as architecture and with architecture as a manifestation of its surrounding environment and culture.
