'Carolina-dominated weekend' 

Both North Carolina lacrosse teams have advanced to the Final Four, and will travel to Philadelphia this weekend to try and bring home a pair of national championships. 

The women's team has had plenty of Final Four success, having reached the NCAA Tournament's final weekend in six of the past eight seasons. The men's team is making its first appearance in the Final Four since 1993, and hasn't won the whole thing since 1991.

Two more for Michael

The North Carolina men's lacrosse team's NCAA quarterfinal matchup with Notre Dame in Columbus, Ohio was a homecoming of sorts for Coach Joe Breschi. 

Breschi got his head coaching start at Ohio State, where he led the Buckeyes for 11 years before coming to North Carolina in 2008. But Columbus is also home to a tragedy for the entire Breschi family.

Grass so perfect, you can't believe it's real

While the North Carolina baseball team has struggled so far in 2016, the Boshamer Stadium grounds crew is at the top of their game. 

The grounds crew has to balance an 80-hour work week during the baseball season with life at home, and still manages to make Bryson Field look pristine along the way.

Looking ahead

  • The track and field teams will compete in the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla., from Thursday to Saturday. 
  • The women's lacrosse team plays Penn State in the NCAA Tournament semifinals at 5 p.m. on Friday. If the team wins, it will play the winner of Maryland and Syracuse at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
  • The men's lacrosse team will play Loyola (Md.) in the NCAA Tournament semifinal at 12 p.m. on Saturday. If UNC wins, it will play the winner of Maryland and Brown at 1 p.m. on Monday.
