Feelings About Trailers: Thoughts at 3 a.m.

They say don’t judge a book by its cover, but can you judge a movie by its trailer? In this semi-weekly, less than professional series, we’ll review newly released trailers of upcoming movies. Send us movie trailers you want reviewed or thoughts on what we got wrong at medium@dailytarheel.com

A Deadly Adoption
Premiering June 20 on Lifetime

Immediate feelings: Is this a joke? Will Ferrell's hair style makes me think no, this is supposed to be real because that's the kind of hair style the men always have in movies like this. Also, the pregnant woman in this also was pregnant on "90210," so I guess casting agents just think she looks super fertile? This looks like "Sharknado" except way less fun and 100 percent more emotional. Why do Lifetime movies always have violence toward women — their audience is women?

Best Quote: “Robert doesn't love you. He loves me — he told me so." Honestly, that seems impossible because  I only heard Will Ferrell say about three short sentences while looking like a lost kid in Target.

Will I Watch it: No, but I'm sure I'll hear more than enough about this from Twitter.

The Martian
Opening in October

Immediate feelings: Oh, hell no. Space is some messed up stuff, y'all, and I'm not into it. Also, this looks very, very similar to "Interstellar" except without Matthew McConaughey and, unlike "Interstellar," it looks like I'd probably like this movie. Hats off to Matt Damon for figuring out how to live, I am so proud of you! Like, oxygen? How did you figure that one out? You'd be a much better astronaut than me, that's for sure.

Best Quote: “I'm only left with one option — I'm going to have to science the shit out of this." We've all been there, Matt.

Will I Watch it: Yeah, okay.

Southpaw
Opening July 24

Immediate feelings: Very intense. I just clicked on this because I saw America's Favorite Son, Jake Gyllenhaal, who is always great. Also, 50 Cent is in this? I'm excited but also I'm still angry with him for his 2011 movie, "All Things Fall Apart," which was terrible. I'm super glad that Rachel McAdams didn't die, as the only woman in this movie, and I hope that trend continues. Side note: Is it shady that Eminem is the soundtrack for this trailer when 50 Cent is actually in it? (No pun intended but also it's 4 a.m. and I don't care)

Best Quote: It was mostly just Eminem and male aggression and I feel like that said enough.

Will I Watch It: Yes. For some reason, #FeministSarah really enjoys Eminem and movies with male aggression.
