Fresh(man) Eyes: Rainy Days

I wake up from the warmth and comfort of my twin-sized comforter and hop down from my lofted bed.  I groggily stumble my way outdoors to check the weather.

I look out past my dorm's balcony and my heart sinks — it's raining.

Back in high school, rain was no big deal.  Driving to school would be a little harder.  Staring out the window would be a little more dreary.  The trip between my car and the school building offered the biggest, but still slim, chance of getting wet.

In college, however, a rainy day is a much different animal.  I gloomily walked back to my room with my head down.  Getting to class wouldn't be the walk in the park it is on sunny days.

After dodging puddles en route to campus, I eventually arrived in the newsroom and began working on this blog entry. Then I heard another tree fell.

Even they don't want to be up on a day like this.

Keesha Exum, a junior from Reidsville, said she agreed that the transition to college rain was rough.

"I never experienced anything like it," she said.
