Bulletstorm, released in February of this year, is the video game behind the Electronic Arts promotional contest that may bring UNC a free Snoop Dogg concert

Lately there’s been a lot of controversy surrounding the University’s Snoop Dogg concert, which the University won the rights to after students garnered the most votes in an online promotional contest by Electronic Arts. On campus, students have weighed in lately on the appropriateness of his lyrics and whether they fit in with the University’s values.

Wait until they check out the EA game behind the concert competition.

Videos and reviews have recently surfaced about Bulletstorm , the video game at the center of EA’s Snoop Dogg contest.

A shooter game set in the distant future, Bulletstorm, which hit store shelves in February, has generated much criticism for its language and graphic content. The Entertainment Software Rating Board rated the game M for Mature, claiming it portrays excessive violence and inappropriate content.

Reviews for the game have run the gamut from excellent to downright avoidable. A GamesRadar.com review gave the game a 10 out of 10 rating; while it claims it isn’t necessarily better than Gears of War 2 , the reviewer puts it ahead of both Call of Duty: Black Ops and Killzone 3 , claiming it features “genuinely evolved FPS gameplay, immense freedom and creativity of play, and secondary modes that add depth and give it real legs.”

On the other side of the spectrum, Fox News explored whether or not Bulletstorm is the worst video game in the world .

Maybe they saw this video sampling the game’s dialogue:
