UNC holds ETSU to a record low 12 first-half points

After dominating East Tennessee State in the first half at the Smith Center, North Carolina, fueled by a 34-2 run, went into halftime with a 42-12 lead against the Pirates.

ETSU’s 12 first-half points is a Smith Center record for the fewest points scored in a single half.

Forward Reggie Bullock missed a pair of wide-open shots in the opening minutes of the game before scoring the first seven points for the Tar Heels. UNC went 5-for-17 from long-range in the first half. It shot 47 percent from the field, while the Pirates shot just 19 percent.

Twelve different Tar Heels saw playing time in the first half, and Leslie McDonald and Brice Johnson led the Tar Heels in scoring with eight points each. ETSU had more turnovers (13) than it had points in the opening half.
