No. 13 UNC leads No. 20 NC State 45-29 at half

After tying the game at 26 with just under five minutes left in the half, the No. 13 North Carolina women’s basketball team went on a 19-3 run to take a 45-29 lead over No. 20 N.C. State at halftime.

The Wolfpack started the game strong, breaking out to an early 11-4 lead, but a slew of N.C. State turnovers gave the Tar Heels multiple opportunities to chip away at the lead, which they did consistently.

Sophomore Xylina McDaniel was the only Tar Heel to score through almost six minutes, but by the end of the half, seven different UNC players had racked up points.

Freshman Diamond DeShields sparked the comeback with two acrobatic and-one baskets. DeShields finished the half leading all scorers with 14 points.

N.C. State committed 14 turnovers in the first half — 12 of which came in the final 10 minutes of the half — and the Tar Heels took advantage, scoring 13 points off of turnovers on their way to a 17-point lead by halftime.
