UNC leads N.C. State 40-23 at the half

At the half, North Carolina leads N.C. State 40-23 in Chapel Hill.

The Tar Heels opened an early lead against the Wolfpack, jumping out to a 6-0 lead in the opening two minutes of play.

UNC continued to build on that lead throughout the half and capitalized on a poor shooting performance by N.C. State. The Wolfpack made just 10 of 40 attempts and didn’t have a player reach double figures in the first half.

The Tar Heels made 14 of 33 field-goal attempts, including two of seven 3-pointers. N.C. State also took seven 3-point shots but only made one.

Marcus Paige leads all scorers with 11 points. ACC leading scorer T.J. Warren leads N.C. State with eight points.

UNC pushed the tempo throughout the half and forced six Wolfpack turnovers. Starting point guard Cat Barber took 11 shots and only made three.

Though UNC holds a double-digit lead, the Tar Heels’ half was far from perfect. UNC committed five turnovers and gave up four points off of those turnovers.

N.C. State corralled 25 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive glass.

Each team scored 14 points in the paint.
