UNC leads No. 25 Pittsburgh by four at half

North Carolina leads No. 25 Pittsburgh 35-31 at halftime.

Pittsburgh’s leading scorer, Lamar Patterson, got his second foul with 9:35 left in the half and didn’t check back into the game until 1:15 left. Patterson, who averages 17.3 points per game, has six at the break.

James Michael McAdoo tied the game at 27 with a signature steal-and-slam with 5:39 left in the half, but neither team scored again until Isaiah Hicks added a monstrous slam of his own with 2:48 left in the half.

McAdoo leads all scorers with 12 points on 5-8 shooting. The Tar Heels are shooting 41 percent from the field compared to Pittsburgh’s 44 percent.

Marcus Paige has both of UNC’s three-point shots, the second of which came in dramatic fashion as Paige was fouled on the shot. UNC is shooting 33.3% from beyond the arc while Pittsburgh is 50% on 3-6.

Though Pittsburgh was dominating the Tar Heels on the boards early in the game, both teams are tied at 19 rebounds at the break.
