Humans of Chapel Hill for Sept. 1, 2015

Assistant City Editor Erin Kolstad sat down with Chapel Hill resident Maia Bellegarde for Town Talk's weekly Humans of Chapel Hill feature.

What brought you to Chapel Hill?

I was visiting a friend down here. I lived in the DC area. I'd been visiting a friend down here for 10 years. Every time I came down here, I had a great time. I danced at Flowjo. Do you know what that is?

No I don't.

It's a place to go dancing, ecstatic dancing. So, I would come down here, I would go to ecstatic dance, I would go to outside concerts, and the people were so friendly that I finally moved down here.

What is your favorite place in Chapel Hill?

That's hard because there are so many. I love Merritt's for the best BLT on the planet. I love to walk the Bolin Creek Trail because I love the woods. There is great Indian food here.

When is the last time you tried something new?

I tried a new restaurant for lunch today. I went to the Root Cellar off of MLK. Great salads. I love to try new restaurants.

What has been the happiest moment of your life so far?

Here is my answer to that. I haven't had it yet, and I am looking forward to it.
