Politics of the Board, Part 4

This is the fourth installment of a series chronicling the political activities of members of the UNC-system Board of Governors. See previous installments here, here and here.

Henry W. Hinton Jr.
Positions on the Board: Hinton sits on the Public Affairs Committee and Public Affairs Committee.
Connection to the System: Hinton received a B.S. from East Carolina University.
Term: 2013-2017
Political Activity: In 2012, Hinton donated $3,000 to Gov. Pat McCrory, $1,505 to Rep. Brian, R-Pitt, $600 to N.C. House Speaker Thom Tillis; $500 each to Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Phil Berger, R-Guilford, Sen. Harry Brown, R-Jones, and Edward Goodwin, a candidate for N.C. Secretary of State. In 2004, Brown donated $1,200 to Democratic candidates.

Rodney Hood
Positions on the Board: Hood sits on the Audit Committee.
Connection to the System: Hood received a B.A. in Business from UNC-CH. He is also a former of the Board of Trustees for the UNC School of the Arts
Term: 2013-2017
Political Activities: In 2005, Hood was appointed President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as board member of the National Credit Union Administration and now serves as vice chairman. In 2012, he donated to Mark Bibbs, who lost a race for the N.C. House, and $100 to McCrory.

W. Marty Kotis
Positions on the Board: Kotis sits on Audit Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee.
Connection to the System: Kotis received a B.S. in Business Administration from UNC-CH and an MBA A from UNC-Charlotte.
Term: 2013-2017
Political Activities: In 2012, Kotis donated $4,000 to N.C. Senate President Pro Tempore Sen. Phil Berger, R-Guilford. He also donated to Sen. Trudy Wade, R-Guilford.
