The Daily Tar Heel reports any inaccurate information published as soon as the error is discovered. Corrections for front-page errors will be printed on the front page. Any other incorrect information will be corrected on page 3. Errors committed on the Opinion Page have corrections printed on that page. Corrections also are noted in the online versions of our stories. Contact Print Managing Editor Sara Gregory with issues with this policy.
Thursday, Nov. 20
Due to a source error, Wednesday’s editorial “Court must be vetted,” incorrectly states that the General Alumni Association helps fund Homecoming king and queen service projects. The GAA does not contribute funds.
Due to a reporting error in Wednesday’s pg. 3 article, “Health schools a low priority,” Phyllis Horns’ title was incorrect. She is the interim vice chancellor for health sciences at East Carolina University.
Due to a reporting error, Wednesday’s pg. 12 article, “Police station ups security,” misspelled Concord police Chief Merl Hamilton’s name.

Wednesday, Nov. 12
Due to a reporting error, the soloist for “Better Man” is misnamed in the Monday pg. 3 concert review “Clefs Concert a bit subdued.” The soloist was Charles Askew. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Due to reporting errors, senior Thomas Jones is misquoted in the Tuesday article Vets see funds, not services." Jones said financial assistance is important for student veterans because the tuition assistance they receive from the GI bill is subtracted from what the University gives them based on financial need assessments. Also the GI Bill gives active duty members more money, not more benefits.
Due to a reporting error, Jones’ military service background is incorrect in the Tuesday article “UNC student veterans face readjustment to college life.” He was activated in the Reserves to assist a group that was deployed to an undisclosed location, but he was not deployed to that location. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the errors.

Due to a reporting error, Tuesday’s online story, “Kidzu named nonprofit business of the year” incorrectly stated the number of partnerships Kidzu Children’s Museum has with UNC entities. It has 16.

Due to an reporting error in Monday’s pg. 11 story “N.C. State debates free expression tunnel,”the title of N.C. State Student Senate President Greg Doucette was misidentified. Additionally, the article stated that Doucette supports the resolution before the N.C. State Senate calling for expulsion of the students who wrote racial slurs. Doucette does not support the resolution in its original form because it still must be passed through a committee. He said he will support the final amended resolution recommended by the committee. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the errors.

Due to an editing error, Monday’s page three story “Seniors finish Habitat work” misidentified Jessica Traylor’s year in school. She is a junior.
Due to a reporting error, the Homecoming insert’s page-seven story “Estrada campaigns by dancing in the Pit” misidentifies Sophia Estrada’s majors. She studies psychology and linguistics.
Due to an editing error, the page three brief “DTH wins renowned award for collegiate journalism” misidentified the name of the convention host. They were the Associated Collegiate Press. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the errors.
Monday, Nov. 3
Due to a reporting error, Thursday’s online story, “Hillsborough Amtrak station a step closer to reality” incorrectly stated that Art Mines said he was hoping the proposal would be submitted for federal funds. Mines never mentioned federal funding; Commissioner Alice Gordon did. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Monday, Oct. 20
Due to a reporting error, Wednesday’s pg. 3 story, “Di-Phi Hosts Debate,” incorrectly attributed a quote. The accusation that Price voted to renew the USA Patriot Act, which Price refuted, was made by Di-Phi moderator Daniel Friedman, not Republican congressional candidate B.J. Lawson. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.

Due to an editing error, Tuesday’s pg. 5 feature photo, “I’ve got to get away,” incorrectly located Linville Gorge at Grandfather Mountain. Linville Gorge is actually south of Grandfather Mountain. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Tuesday, Oct. 14
Due to an editing error, Friday’s online story, “Musicians channel artistic side for third year,” incorrectly states the name of the art exhibition. It is the Minus Sound Research exhibit. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for this error.

Due to a reporting error, Thursday’s pg. 3 story, “Mishele Minton out on bail,” incorrectly states the year Minton graduated from Chapel Hill High School. She graduated in 1988. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Wednesday, Oct. 8
Due to a reporting error, Friday’s online article, “Panel addresses local women’s rights issues,” incorrectly listed what the Orange County Women’s Agenda Assembly voted as the fourth most significant problem facing women. The fourth spot was actually tied between civil participation and immigration. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Tuesday, Oct. 7
Due to a reporting error, Monday’s pg. 1 skybox incorrectly reported the last time UNC was ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. It was November 2001.
Due to editing errors, Monday’s pg. 1 story, “Fan excitement grows,”
has several errors. The story incorrectly refers to Sosei Nakasuji, a barista at Jack Sprat Cafe, as a “she.” Nakasuji is a man.
The story also incorrectly states why ticket distribution for Saturday’s game against Notre Dame was implemented. Officials decided on a lottery before the season began.

Due to a reporting error, Thursday’s pg. 6 story, “Curtains of Night bring the noise,”
misidentifies Curtains of Night member Nora Rodgers as Nora Lincoln.
Due to a reporting error, Tuesday’s online story, "Kenyan refugee speaks out against U.S. injustices,” misstates how David Kenney immigrated to the U.S. He came to the country via an immigrant visa.
Due to a reporting error, Wednesday’s online story, "Six states participate in cap and trade auction,” incorrectly states that Progress Energy does not support carbon cap and trade auctions. Progress Energy doesn’t support regional auctions, but it does support national ones.

Wednesday, Oct. 1
Due to math errors, Tuesday’s pg. 3 correction failed to correct the incorrect formula in Monday’s pg. 2 Daily Dose. The 46th known Mersenne prime number can be found with the formula (2^P-1), where P equals 43,112,609, which is also a prime number. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the errors. The number was too large for our calculators.
Tuesday, Sept. 30
Due to a reporting error, Monday’s pg. 1 story, "Bill Thorpe, long-serving Town Council member, dies” misspells Thorpe’s wife’s name. Her name is Jean. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Due to an editing error, Monday’s pg. 2 Daily Dose “UCLA discovers 13-million-digit prime” incorrectly states that the formula (2P - 1) results in a prime number. 2P-1 is the correct formula. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Monday, Sept. 29
Due to an editing error, Friday’s pg. 3 story, “Singers showcase banned music,” incorrectly states the length of an FBI investigation into the lyrics of “Louie, Louie.” It was a three-month investigation.
Due to a source error, Friday’s pg. 11 story states that Noodles & Company hosted a VIP luncheon for UNC Internet Technology Services members. ITS did not attend the luncheon.
Thursday, Sept. 25
Due to a reporting error, Tuesday’s pg. 3 story, “Students, Thorp talk UNC,” incorrectly stated what the student advisory committee to the chancellor and Chancellor Thorp agreed to do regarding a task force to evaluate a proposed Latino Center. A decision on whether to form a task force will be made later this week. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.

Due to an editing error, the headline for Monday's pg. 1 story, "Tutu is May '08 speaker" misstates when Archbishop Desmond Tutu will speak at UNC. He is the May 2009 commencement speaker. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Due to a reporting error, Monday's pg. 1 story, "Good Morning, Chapel Hill" incorrectly identifies Clay Vickers. He is a sophomore. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Due to an editing error, the caption on the photo with Monday’s pg. 12 story,“Women’s soccer blows past Georgia, Fordham,” misidentifies the pictured player. The player in the photo is Yael Averbuch. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.

Due to a reporting error, Monday's pg. 3 story,"'Bunny Butts' invade: Chapel Hill festival draws corgis and owners" incorrectly stated that one of the participants works for CorgiAid. Debbie Campbell is a volunteer for the group. The story also misstated when corgi Alphi was introduced. He was introduced in the rescue dog parade. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Friday, Sept. 19
Due to an editing error, the headline on Wednesday’s front page story, “Sixth charged in Aug. killing,” should not have said when Joshua Bailey was killed. The time of his death is not known. Due to a reporting error, the story also incorrectly states Brian Gregory Minton’s age. He is 18.
Due to a reporting error in the Sept. 11 Diversions cover story, “Rollin’ Deep,” the last name of the “Trauma Queens” roller derby coach was incorrect. His name is Chad Boyd.

Due to an editing error, a bar graph in Wednesday’s front page story “Chancellor pushes research” dropped the word “undergraduate” when describing the proportion of College of Arts and Sciences faculty involved in research.
Wednesday, Sept. 10
Due to reporting errors, Wednesday’s pg. 1 story, “Play probes life of women with HIV,” misidentified the characters in “In the Continuum.” Abigail is a middle-class housewife in Zimbabwe, and Nia is a black woman living in South-Central Los Angeles. The article also misattributes the following quote, “It is essential for us to pick shows that will evoke controversy and debate in the community.”

Due to a reporting error, the Sept. 2 brief, "Ramadan, a month-long-fast, begins today," incorrectly stated when Ramadan began. Ramadan began on Monday.
Friday, Aug. 22
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 22 story "Million meals to fight hunger," incorrectly stated where meals prepared at the University Million Meal Event will be sent. The meals will be sent to El Salvador, Haiti and India.
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 22 story "UNC rethinks e-mail service," misidentified John Streck. He is assistant vice chancellor for communication technologies.
Thursday, Aug. 21
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 21 story, "Tar Heels take on Beijing," incorrectly stated the score of the 7th place game in women's field hockey at the Olympics. Spain defeated the United States 3-2.
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 21 editorial, "Join the dialogue, Thorp" incorrectly identified the year the legal drinking age was raised from 18 to 21. The change occurred in North Carolina in 1986.
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 21 story, "New rabbi looks to connect," incorrectly identified the program N.C. Hillel new rabbi Jessica Marshall plans to start. She wants to host "Shabbat in the woods."
Wednesday, Aug. 20
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 20 editorial, "A critical eye to EMS," incorrectly suggested that an investigation should be initiated into high school football player Atlas Fraley's death. Orange County Emergency Services said Aug. 14 that a full review of the incident is under way.
Tuesday, Aug. 19
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 19 online story,"Lawson guilty of drinking driving" incorrectly stated that Lawson pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor charges. Two of the three charges were dropped, and he pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor charge.
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 19 story, "Meal plan purchases up despite higher cost," incorrectly stated the meal plan price increases over the last five years. The average per-semester price has gone up $208, or about 25 percent, in the past five years.
Due to an editing error, the Aug. 19 story, "Honor code amended," said that any Honor Court charges against junior Chris Kearney related to his Sunday drunken driving accident would not fall under the revised honor code. The revised guidelines took affect on June 3. The Daily Tar Heel apologizes for the error.
Monday, Aug. 18
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 18 story, "Details of teenager's death still uncertain," states that Fraley Atlas was hospitalized last year for dehydration. Atlas was not hospitalized, he was treated by EMS at home.
Due to a reporting error, the Aug. 18 story "Ackland, UNC relations set to tighten with grant," states that Robert Cantwell co-curated the Ackland exhibit "The '50s and the Anti-'50s." He is teaching a class on the subject of the exhibit.
The Aug. 18 story,"Local transit could face gas-price woes," states that the BCX route runs from the UNC campus to Chapel Hill Bible Church. That route was discontinued this week. The Daily Tar Heel regrets the omission.
