Tar Heel golfer wins gold in international tournament

Rising UNC junior Catherine O’Donnell won the gold medal at the World University Golf Championship in Antequera, Spain on Saturday.

The two-time All-ACC golfer won the biennial competition by two strokes, shooting 290 during the course of the four-day, 72-hole tournament.

Going into the final day of competition, O’Donnell had a three-stroke lead over the next competitor, Morgane Bazin de Jessey of France, who took silver with a final score of 292.

The World University Golf Championship, which is sponsored by the International University Sports Federation, celebrated its 13th year of the international competition.
