The Daily Tar Heel

One of the largest environmental events in the University’s history ends today.

“Water and Health: Where Science Meets Policy” began Monday, bringing scholars, water resources executives and policymakers from across the globe to Chapel Hill. The event examines water-related issues in five fields — engineering and technology, health, community development, policy and climate change — and focuses on research, education and public outreach.

The conference is being held at the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education. It was presented by the UNC Institute for the Environment and the new Water Institute at UNC, which is based at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Today’s speakers include Lawrence Band and Jamie Bartram, the directors of the UNC Institute for the Environment and Water Institute, respectively.
