In the past few weeks, I have seen colored denim all across campus and the Internet. Back in the fall after Fashion Week, many people predicted colored denim would be a trend in the spring, and now it is everywhere. I ran into these three girls this week on campus who were all sporting the trend in the most picturesque ways possible.

Caitlin McGinnis, a senior Journalism major from Concord, is rocking the colored denim trend in her wine colored Seven for All Mankind jeans mixed with an army green coat and a colorful scarf. Some people might think that wearing colored pants limits your outfit, but Caitlin proves that it definitely does not. Colored denim is easy to wear if you mix it with neutrals and try to incorporate the color of the denim into one accessory, such as a printed scarf. Caitlin said she reads Vogue, Elle and many fashion blogs, including the amazing Man Repeller. Caitlin also said she loves pants in general — she owns a velvet pair and hopes to purchase some snakeskin ones in the future.

Lily Hong’s outfit is a very simple way to pull off colored denim and shows how anyone can rock this look. Lily, a senior from Hong Kong majoring in Business, said she was not even aware that colored jeans were a trend this season, saying that she just threw on this awesome teal pair that morning. But, Lily said she does look to designers Chanel and Louis Vuitton along with Tumblr and street style for inspiration. Although she didn’t know how on trend she was, Lily’s cute outfit incorporates the colored denim trend perfectly.

Anna Noon, a freshman Political Science major from Chapel Hill, shows us how we can wear colored denim with her laid back outfit incorporating prints and two shades of green. Anna’s enviable pair of forest green Zara jeans are mixed perfectly with a neutral printed top, a lighter green jacket and lace up boots. Despite the fact that she got the jeans in Paris, Anna also was not aware that her jeans were on trend and did not think she was stylish at all. But, in terms of style, Anna said she loves the clothes from Pretty Little Liars, which I have to agree with, and gets inspiration from that.

After seeing these three stylish girls, who could not want a colored pair of jeans too? Madewell and Urban Outfitters denim&listViewSize=&indexStart=0&sortBy=&sortOrder=&categories=&categories2=&categories3=&categories4=&skucolor=&priceLow=&priceHigh=&skusize=&brand=&maxPrice=&minPrice= have some awesome pairs that you do not want to miss out on.
