New this year, From the Press Box presents a daily, “Tracking the Tar Heels” post that provides links to the important UNC sports news of the day. Chancellor Holden Thorp, athletic director Dick Baddour and football head coach Butch Davis will hold a press conference tonight at 7:30 regarding the NCAA investigation, associate athletic director of communications Steve Kirschner said.
The press conference will be the first time all three men have addressed the media together. It is possible that a decision regarding the status of defensive tackle Marvin Austin and wide receiver Greg Little, two UNC players at the center of the investigation, has been reached.
Today’s UNC football practice was closed to the media and Davis was not available for comment despite previously being slated to speak at 3:10 p.m. at Navy Field.
