Though the organization is large and has committees on everything from comedy to fun to aesthetic expressions, it is most well-known for its film series and Great Hall events. The film series brings movies that have already appeared in theaters, but may not yet be available on DVD, to campus. Admission is free with a OneCard. There are also a few advanced screenings depending on availability and cost.
One of the other widely known committees is the fun committee. Members of the fun committee generate random activities to enliven an ordinary day, such as handing out free Popsicles or bringing puppies to the Pit.
The impetus for the first collaboration between CUAB and WXYC came from a famous jazz musician. While Googling himself, jazz pianist Matthew Shipp discovered that UNC radio station WXYC frequently plays his music. He asked the station to help him find a venue to perform in the area.
