Officials at UNC-Wilmington are also investigating their alert system after it failed to notify students of a July 29 shooting.
Investigators are working to issue a full report detailing the source of the failure by the end of this week, said Cindy Lawson, a spokeswoman for UNC-W in an email.

Campus police at UNC-Greensboro are considering implementing alert devices to strengthen safety, but lack of funding may prevent the change. The device, which has been developed by New Centurion Solutions, Inc., would improve alert notifications and police response times on campus, said Paul Lester, assistant chief of police.

A change in regulation for the Humans vs. Zombies game on the UNC-Greensboro campus eased community concerns, but at the cost of some student participation. Eliminating the use of Nerf blasters was the main rule change to the game this semester, said UNC-G Campus Chief of Police Jamie Herring.

The UNC system’s longest tenured chancellor, Patricia Sullivan, 69,  died Thursday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The former UNC-Greensboro chancellor, known for her professional accomplishments and personal touch in working with students and colleagues, retired last year after serving as chancellor for almost 14 years. She was the first woman to hold the position.
