Holding the faces of greats like Charles Kuralt, Mia Hamm and Michael Jordan, the Yackety Yackhas been the yearbook of UNC since 1901. It succeeds The Hellenian, which was the yearbook from 1890 to 1900.

The publication has not changed much since its creation, always featuring class pictures, campus organizations, clubs and sports information. However, earlier issues focused more on UNC’s societies like Di-Phi.

Sales for the publication have declined, though former Editor-in-Chief Michael McRae said it has “no intentions of shutting down.” The yearbook sold just 450 yearbooks in 2008, while it usually sells between 1,400 and 2,500 books.
