President’s advisory council meets at UNC

The nation’s leading innovators planted the seed Tuesday for future Googles, Intels and Microsofts inside Koury Auditorium. Meeting for only the third time in its existence, President Barack Obama’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship held its first public forum outside Washington, D.C.


	Norman Loewenthal will retire and his replacement will start in July.

Friday Center’s director retires

Norman Loewenthal, 66, has worked at the University for 37 years and served as director of the William and Ida Friday Center for Continuing Education since 1991. He will retire June 30. He said he looks forward to continuing his own education after retirement by taking personal enrichment classes and pursuing his interest in singing.


Speaker series highlights war-torn regions

After trips to the Middle East, Africa and most recently India, Jon Lee Anderson stopped by Chapel Hill on Thursday night before continuing on to Egypt. Anderson, a foreign correspondent for The New Yorker, spoke about his experiences reporting from war-torn regions around the world to more than 100 people gathered in Carroll Hall.


Basketball tickets to be sold on StubHub

This season, UNC basketball fans will have a new way to buy and sell tickets. StubHub, the world’s largest ticket marketplace, announced its partnership with UNC on Monday. Basketball fans interested in buying and selling tickets can access UNC’s ticket office’s website, which will connect them to StubHub.


UNC alumni to reunite at Top of the Hill

Carolina graduates are expected to return in droves for the William and Mary football game Oct. 30. However, alumni are not coming home just for a football game. The General Alumni Association is hosting an Alumni Milestone Mixer at Top of the Hill’s new Back Bar on Oct. 29 from 8 to 10 p.m.
