Being a competitive swimmer most of his life, Dr. Charles van der Horst never thought about running in a marathon.

Three to be honored by the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame Journalism professor Phil Meyer and the late James Davis will be inducted into the N.C. Journalism Hall of Fame on Sunday. Student fee helps campus go green
Students are the inspirational and financial driving forces behind UNC's campus effort to go green - all made possible through the renewable energy fee.

Most doctors' offices are full of drug company advertisements.
Whether their names are plastered on the clock in the waiting room, on the pen borrowed from the front desk or on a coffee cup in a nurse's hand, drug company paraphernalia is everywhere.
PharmFree, an organization of the American Medical Student Association, is working to eliminate those drug names from doctors' offices. (3 Comments)
Fund to help research melanoma
Development of drugs among goals
Thanks to a collaboration of researchers at UNC, the University Cancer Research Fund has directed a portion of its finances to the most fatal form of skin cancer.
An innovation award of $190,000 from the fund, which was passed into law last summer, will allow doctors to research melanoma, which could lead to better treatments. (1 Comment)
Ram Village available for summer
Ram Village Apartments will host more than just summer school students soon, as they now are open for conference attendees to rent.
To reserve the apartments for their guests, conferences must have some sort of affiliation with the University. Ram Village will be rented out only to adult conferences, said Rick Bradley, assistant director in the Department of Housing and Residential Education. (0 Comments)
