College of Arts and Sciences continues search for dean

The search for the new dean of UNC’s College of Arts and Sciences continued Thursday with the third search committee meeting.

The committee, headed by Jack Boger, dean of UNC’s law school, is in charge of evaluating applicants, inviting candidates for interviews and recommending candidates to the provost.

The actual evaluation of the applications will not begin until Oct. 15.

There has been a vacant spot for the position since Chancellor Holden Thorp resigned as dean of the school last year. UNC professor Bruce Carney serves as the interim dean until the committee makes a decision. A date has not been set for the next meeting.
