Professor Betsy Sleath, the chair of the Division of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, has always known she wanted to write fiction as a hobby. After taking three creative writing courses at UNC, she wrote her book, Pelican Island Pharmacy, over the course of a year.

After 15 years of fiction-writing dreams, Betsy Sleath finally published her first book, “Pelican Island Pharmacy.”

Kevin Guskiewicz named dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

Kevin Guskiewicz has been named the next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, according to a release from the University. Guskiewicz, the senior associate dean for natural sciences and a distinguished professor in the Exercise and Sport Sciences department, was one of five finalists for the position — and the only one currently at UNC.  “Kevin is a natural fit to become the next leader of our vibrant College of Arts and Sciences, which provides students with a critical foundation for learning and discovery every day,” Chancellor Carol L.
