Blue Cross NC invests $1 million in NCCU's nursing program to increase diversity

Blue Cross NC announced a $50 million investment into community health initiatives last month, including $1 million for N.C. Central University’s nursing program, which hopes to increase diversity in the nursing field. The initiative aims to improve the state’s coverage of the opioid epidemic, early childhood development, social determinants of health and primary care.

UNC student groups want you to know that microaggressions are more than just insults

“Microaggressions can affect minority populations’ mental health because they end up internalizing the disdain of the dominant community,” said Aaron Epps, president of The Black Student Movement. “That puts the responsibility onto the people who are being oppressed and not onto the people who are oppressing, since they don’t realize why what they said was hurtful.”

Carolina For The Kids raised $614,717.71 in 2016 for the patients and families at UNC Children's Hospital.

Carolina For The Kids celebrates 20th year of Dance Marathon

The annual 24-hour no-sleeping, no-sitting Dance Marathon is the culmination of a yearlong effort by Carolina For The Kids to raise money to support families of patients at UNC Children’s Hospital. The organization’s flagship grant, the For The Kids Fund, provides financial assistance for necessities not covered by insurance, like money for travel and critical utility bills.
