Research and Development

UNC is one of the leading public research universities in the nation, according to the Carnegie Foundation’s classification of colleges and universities. The University’s research funding for the fiscal year of 2014 totaled more than $790 million. There are 80 research centers and institutes at UNC. Some of them are currently undergoing scrutiny by the UNC-system Board of Governors in order to cut the budget.
