'It's over:' Berry and Pinson end UNC careers with second-round NCAA Tournament loss

CHARLOTTE — When Joel Berry II and Theo Pinson checked out of Sunday night’s game, they did so together, just like they’ve done so many other times. Together for a national championship loss, and for a national championship win. Together for their senior night speeches, and for the Instagram videos of them dancing to Migos. And now, together for one last time as members of the North Carolina men’s basketball team.

Kenny Williams, first-year bigs stand out in UNC's 84-66 win over Lipscomb

CHARLOTTE — Kenny Williams hadn’t played in an NCAA tournament game for 713 days.  Before tipoff against No. 15 seed Lipscomb on Friday afternoon, he’d last checked in for one meager minute during the North Carolina men’s basketball team’s win over Syracuse in the 2016 Final Four on April 2. He took no shots that night.

Sigouin, Kiger clinch rivalry win for No. 8 UNC men's tennis against No. 12 Duke

DURHAM — Age is just a number when it comes to the North Carolina men’s tennis team. Despite their youth, the experiences and capabilities that first-years Ben Sigouin and Mac Kiger bring to the team ultimately pushed the No. 8 Tar Heels (11-3, 2-0 ACC) to a 4-3 victory over rival No. 12 Blue Devils (10-6, 1-1 ACC) at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

Top-ranked Virginia downs North Carolina in ACC Tournament Championship, 71-63

BROOKLYN — The North Carolina basketball team knew what lay ahead of it at the beginning of the week. An ACC Championship title was at stake.  Against top-seeded Virginia, the Tar Heels needed every bit of offensive and defensive power it could muster. But carried by the momentum after wins against No. 24 Miami and No. 5 Duke, UNC managed to make some shots against the Cavaliers. Even so, Virginia offered a litmus test for the Tar Heels to see how it compares to other national title contenders. And Saturday proved that UNC has work left to do.
