Sylvia Hatchell

Sylvia Hatchell is the head coach of the women’s basketball team at UNC, and has been since 1986. She missed the 2013-14 season when she was being treated for cancer, but she has since recovered and returned to the court.

Hatchell has won National Coach of the Year twice, ACC Coach of the Year three times and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. She led UNC to a National Championship in 1994, and has been involved with the US Olympic team, winning five gold and two silver medals as both an assistant coach and a head coach over the years.
