NC Commission of Inquiry on Torture to hold public hearings

The North Carolina Commission of Inquiry on Torture will hold a public hearing Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 to explore North Carolina’s role in supporting the Central Intelligence Agency’s Detention and Interrogation Program, according to a press release by the commission.

This is life under World War ll Japanese American internment, and these are some of the stories Professor Eric Muller plans to tell through his podcast series, “Scapegoat Cities,” to be released this fall.

NC House preserves law school funding

The NC House of Representatives took out a spending proposed by the Senate cut to slash UNC’s Law School’s funding by 30 percent. However, the North Carolina General Assembly budget is not finalized.

Concert fundraises for UNC Center for Civil Rights

UNC’s Center for Civil Rights took center stage at a benefit concert — part of ongoing efforts to resist a proposal by the UNC-system Board of Governors — at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, North Carolina on Sunday.
