Last year, when Maryland defeated North Carolina’s wrestling team at home by 15 points, Coach C.D. Mock told his wrestlers — for what he hoped would be the first and only time — that he was ashamed to be associated with them.

	In the North Carolina’s 21-16 loss to Arizona State, redshirt sophomore Antonio Giorgia lost his bout to Arizona State’s Jake Meredith, 6-4. Other members of the wrestling team were also in action this weekend in Raleigh,  where 12 wrestlers placed in the Wolfpack Open.

Tar Heels fall short in dual meet against ASU

For Evan Henderson, there was no solace in merely doing his part. The sophomore wrestler, ranked 19th in the country in his 141-pound weight class, may have secured a major decision during North Carolina’s dual meet with Arizona State, but Henderson regarded his performance — and that of his team — with pure contempt.

UNC wrestling falls to Terrapins, Navy

Before Friday’s meet against No. 13 Maryland, North Carolina redshirt senior wrestler Kyle Kiss was diagnosed with a torn ligament in his thumb and was told that he was done wrestling, coach C.D. Mock said.
