1:30 A.M, SATURDAY, NOV. 22, SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Tyler Hansbrough made his first start of the season in the North Carolina men's basketball team's 84-67 win Friday at the University of California at Santa Barbara.

Hansbrough struggled from the floor, going only 2-for-8, but as always excelled at free throws, ending with 13 points, 11 in the first half.

Hansbrough was one of six Tar Heels in double figures, led by Ty Lawson's 19.

But it wasn't all easy going for North Carolina, and the Tar Heels trailed for the first time all season late in the first half Friday. After an 11-0 run, the UCSB Gauchos led by five until UNC went on a run of its own.

The Tar Heels matched with an unanswered 13 points of their own, and UNC would not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.
