Ackland Art Museum’s newest exhibitions to focus on modern Germany

The works of dozens of German artists arrive at the Ackland Art Museum this week, as the museum opens two new exhibitions focusing on the development of German art throughout recent history. The exhbitions, which feature a variety of mediums and genres, tell the story of modern Germany’s reinvention after the devastation of World War II.

Student clowns bring humor to hospitals

Red rubber noses, outlandish outfits, giant underwear — all in an unexpected place. In the spirit of unconventional health care activist and doctor Patch Adams — who is coming to campus to speak next week— members of UNC’s art therapy organization, ArtHeels, bring the art of clowning to the children of UNC Hospitals.

‘John the Revelator’ spins Catholic mass

Tonight, string quartet ETHEL and vocal group Lionheart will perform a tailor-made composition from Phil Kline. Mixing modern sound with traditional music and literature, then pasting it into the structure of a Catholic mass, Kline’s “John the Revelator” promises to be a unique performance.

The current four student body president candidates turned to siblings and friends for artistic help, but all say that their logo ties into essential themes of their campaign.
