Commissioners debate site for new Orange County Library

After 25 years of discussion, a southern branch of the Orange County Public Library is still three to five years away. At Tuesday’s Board of County Commissioner’s meeting, commissioners received an update on a continuing effort between the county and Carrboro to choose a site for the library. Three sites were originally proposed: 1128 Hillsborough Rd., 401 Fidelity St. and 301 West Main St.


Commissioners hope to drive down EMS times

Orange County Board of Commissioners voted Thursday night to hire an outside consulting group, Solutions for Local Government, Inc., to assess the County’s Emergency Medical Services and E911 Communications Center. The board’s decision was based on a recommendation from the county’s Emergency Services Workgroup.


Carrboro Candidates answer website criticism

At a Monday night forum, Carrboro Board of Aldermen candidates discussed ways to update the town’s website, which has been criticized as outdated and hard to navigate. But most candidates agreed that in a time of limited financial resources, updating the website is not a priority.
