CAA T-shirt sales earn money for charity

For the first time ever, the Carolina Athletic Association is donating some of its T-shirt profits to a campus organization. The recipient will come as no surprise to students. Dance Marathon will receive $2 for every Homecoming T-shirt sold. They will cost 12 dollars each, which is in line with previous years.

Landline phone cuts may save money

University officials across several academic departments are considering cutting the cord on a common perk for professors: landline phones. Due to budget shortfalls, some departments have found themselves searching for innovative ways to save money. As part of that effort, many said they looked to eliminate the use of outdated, expensive and rarely used land-line phones.

Greeks work for fire safety

Wednesday, a group of UNC sorority and fraternity fire marshals partnered with the Chapel Hill Fire Department to prevent future fires. They installed fire alarms and inspected 70 off-campus residences as part of Campus Fire Safety Month, a collaboration of the Chapel Hill Fire Department, UNC and the Michael H. Minger Foundation.
