Campus Y holds advocates Human Rights Week with series of events

CORRECTION: Due to a reporting error, a previous version of this story listed events for the 2012 Human Rights Week instead of 2013. The story has been changed to reflect these changes.

Campus Y committees will be holding a series of events through this Saturday to advocate for Human Rights Week.

“One-third of our committees, with hundreds of students, are working together to put on this whole week,” said Jagir Patel, co-president of the Campus Y.

Though slavery is illegal, there are still almost 27 million people enslaved worldwide. Issues such as human trafficking will be addressed at events orchestrated by Advocates for Human Rights, Amnesty International, Carolina Against Slavery and Trafficking and STAND-UNC.
