Three UNC basketball signees named McDonald's All-Americans

Three future UNC men’s basketball players were named to the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Games on Tuesday night, along with one of the Tar Heels’ top recruiting targets. Men’s basketball signees Joel Berry (Orlando, Fla.), Justin Jackson (Kimball, Texas) and Theo Pinson (Greensboro) were selected to the game, which honors 24 of the nation’s top high school seniors.

Scouting Report: Theo Pinson

Despite an exceptional performance from North Carolina signee Theo Pinson, Wesleyan Christian (N.C.) fell to national power Prime Prep (Texas), 68-67, in a thrilling overtime contest on Saturday night as part of the inaugural Under Armour Showcase in Charlotte. Pinson was superb for Wesleyan Christian, scoring 38 points while hauling in 12 rebounds. Future Heels breaks down his game with a comprehensive scouting report.

Hoops Recruiting: Signing period quickly approaching

With the early signing period just over a week away, recruiting classes across the country are being finalized and some of the nation’s top seniors are making their college commitments. The North Carolina men’s basketball team has three players who have made verbal commitments to the program, all of whom are expected to sign a National Letter of Intent in the early period. At the same time, Roy Williams and staff still have their sights set on two uncommitted prospects.

Hoops Recruiting: Blackmon cuts UNC, Vaughn to visit UNLV

One of the class of 2014’s premier outside shooters and a North Carolina target, James Blackmon, Jr. (Marion; Marion, Ind.) took to Twitter on Thursday evening to give an update on his recruitment. Unsurprisingly, UNC was left off the 6-foot-4 sharpshooter’s list of the final five schools he is considering. Elsewhere on the 2014 recruiting front, 5-star prospect Rashad Vaughn scheduled an official visit to UNLV from November 25-26th. Vaughn still has not rescheduled his official visit to UNC that was postponed, originally scheduled to be last weekend.
