TOP STORY — Republican poll analysis: Romney winning with middle-class families
Politico reports that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney holds a 14-point advantage in the latest Politico-George Washington University Battleground Poll among middle-class families, “which comprise about 54 percent of the total American electorate and usually split in their vote behavior between Republicans and Democrats.”

“Ironically, the one measurement Obama led Romney on was “standing up for the middle class”… reinforcing that often the Democrats win the message war with the middle class, but not their hearts and souls.”

Sheldon Adelson: Inside the mind of the mega-donor
In a series examining the unprecedented influx of big dollars in the 2012 campaigns, Politico’s Mike Allen sat down with casino magnate and Republican donor Sheldon Adelson:

“Adelson said he recently told Romney: “I want to tell you something: I’m not looking for an ambassadorship. I’m not looking for anything, except if I’m fortunate enough to be invited to another [White House] Hanukkah party, I want two potato pancakes, because last time I was there, they ran out of them.”

Family Protests CNN’s Use of Slain Envoy’s Journal
CNN has caused a stir by reporting contents from the diary of Christopher Stevens, the slain U.S. ambassador from Libya, against the wishes of the Stevens family and U.S. State Department officials.

From The Wall Street Journal: “In (a broadcast Wednesday, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper) said the ambassador was worried about security threats in Benghazi and said he believed he was on an al Qaeda hit list.”

Emmys 2012: ‘Modern Family,’ ‘Game Change,’ ‘Homeland’ are big Emmys winners
From the Los Angeles Times: “It was a three-peat for “Modern Family.”
ABC’s ensemble hit comedy about a loving, dysfunctional family won the Emmy for best comedy series for the third consecutive year, capping a night in which it also won awards for directing, supporting actor and supporting actress — four trophies in all.

Other big winners Sunday night — each also earning four trophies apiece — were “Game Change” and “Homeland.”
