Bluegrass Jam
What: Performance
When: March 3, 5:45 p.m.
Where: The ArtsCenter, Carrboro

Bring your fiddle, banjo, mandolin or guitar to this casual bluegrass jam where musicians of all skill levels are invited to join in a chord progression and meet other musicians in the area.

Gesche Würfel: New Works
What: Lecture
When: March 5, 11 a.m.
Where: Center for the Study of the American South

As part of the “What’s Up Down South with Bill Ferris” lecture series, German visual artist Gesche Würfel will present some of her latest projects. Würfel builds off her background in urban planning and sociology to investigate through art the relationship between people and their surroundings. In one of her most recent collections of photographs, Würfel researches the lynchings of African American women in the South and the effect slavery still has on present day conditions. Let Them Be Heard
What: Performance and Tour
When: March 7, 8 at 8 p.m.
Where: Carrboro ArtsCenter

Catch Bare Theater’s “Let Them Be Heard” in Carrboro this weekend. “Let Them Be Heard” brings to life recorded interviews with former N.C. slaves collected by the New Deal Works Progress Administration in the late 1930s. Their stories document the experiences of the last surviving people who had lived under slavery and will be performed almost in their entirety.

Tickets: $8 for ArtsCenter Friends, $10 for general public
