Yesterday’s press conference set off fireworks, as Apple revealed the newest member of the iPad family as well as new computers.

The often speculated iPad mini, a 7.9-inch version of Apple’s popular tablet, was finally unveiled to the public. It is competitively priced, starting at $329, to compete with other smaller devices such as the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7. Notable specs include a similar screen resolution to that of the iPad 2, an A5 processor (same as the one found in the iPhone 4S) and 10 hours of battery life. Preorders for the iPad mini start on the 26th and the tablet will ship on Nov. 2nd. A version with LTE cellular bands will ship later next month.

Also revealed was the 4th generation iPad. Six months after the 3rd gen shipped, the newest iPad features similar specs except for a Lightning port and an A6 processor. It will start at $499 and has the same preorder and shipping times as the iPad mini.

Apple also introduced new iMac models and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with a Retina display. These products feature more durable solid state drives and are available today.
