Humans of Chapel Hill for Oct. 6

Daily Tar Heel staff writer Shuyan Huang sat down with Emanuel Luna, a banquet server and bartender at the Carolina Inn, for Town Talk’s weekly Humans of Chapel Hill feature. Emanuel was spending time with his sister, Elisa Luna, and their nephew, Mike Luna.

What has been the happiest moment in your life?

When I was in band I would guess, like when I started band in eighth grade in Alabama. It was an orchestra and I played trumpet. There were about 18 people in the band. I had just started it, so it was beginners. I think that would probably be one of my happiest moments because I did want to do it. I liked it.

What has been the saddest moment of your life so far?

When I found out that my uncle had lost his wife. Because when we were younger, she was always there. And at first they weren’t married, so basically she was really close to us. And so I would like to say that was my saddest moment. I went and saw her before she actually died. She was around my oldest brother’s age, which I think is 37 now, but at that time she was about 32.

What's your biggest struggle right now?

I don’t actually feel like a struggle. I see something and basically I would say if I want it, I will go for it. But if I feel like I don’t really need it, I won’t.
