Hatchell Earns 300th Victory

With the win, UNC coach Sylvia Hatchell earned her 300th career victory with the Tar Heels.

North Carolina (11-9, 5-5 in the ACC) were led by sophomore point guard Coretta Brown and senior guard Juana Brown.

The Tar Heels kept Georgia Tech (11-9, 2-7) off balance throughout the game and never trailed.

Coretta Brown recorded 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Juana Brown tallied 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

North Carolina shot 47 percent from the field while limiting the Yellow Jackets to 31 percent shooting.

The Tar Heels also controlled the boards, out-rebounding Georgia Tech, 50-36.

"We showed tonight what kind of team we can be," Hatchell said. "We had played like that in spurts, but our youthfulness had hurt us in some games. We're gaining confidence and are working to be more consistent."

Jaime Kruppa led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 17 points and recorded seven rebounds.
