Tuesday, Feb. 27

A UNC Department of Public Safety employee reported that tools were stolen from the back of a state vehicle that was parked on the third level of Cardinal Parking Deck.

There were about nine tools valued at $170 total.

A resident of Stacy Residence Hall reported harassing phone calls to both himself and his roommate occurring periodically since Feb. 25.

He said the calls occurred during various times of day and night and were possibly generated by a computer modem.

The phone number appeared as "blocked" on his caller ID.

Monday, Feb. 26

A computer valued at $2,500 was reported stolen from the Carolina Inn.

The owner said he was setting up for a seminar on Feb. 24 at the Carolina Inn, and the security guard told him the door would be locked until morning.

But when he returned, the machine was missing.

He said he didn't report the theft right away because he thought someone might return the computer.

Sunday, Feb. 25

University police arrested a Craige resident, freshman Adam Lambert Kutrumbos, at 12:02 a.m. for alcohol and marijuana possession.

Reports state Kutrumbos was spotted walking in a large group of people with an open bottle of an alcoholic malt beverage.

While searching the student for weapons, police found marijuana and more beer in his pockets.

Wednesday, Feb. 28

Chapel Hill police arrested Jorge Gargia Damian, 23, of 112 N.C. 54 for disruptive behavior.

Reports state that Damian was taking off his clothes, lying on a sidewalk, cursing and banging his head on the ground behind the Franklin Street post office.

Damian was charged with one count of misdemeanor intoxication and disruptive behavior.

He is confined in Orange County Jail on a $100 secured bond.

His court date has been set for May 9 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.

Chapel Hill police received reports of damage to property at 2:12 a.m.

Reports state that two unknown intoxicated people were kicking the sides of cars near 307 W. Cameron St., causing $150 damage to a 1999 Chevy Cavalier.

The incident is under further investigation.

Tuesday, Feb. 27

Chapel Hill police received reports of vandalism at 7 a.m.

Reports state that an unknown person was spray painting cars in the area of Sir Richard Road, leaving $200 damage to a 1995 Mazda 626, $200 damage to a 1988 Mazda and $200 damage to a 2000 Ford Taurus.

Leads are exhausted in the case.

Chapel Hill police received reports of damage to property on Bluefield Lane.

Reports state that an unknown person slashed the tires of a backhoe, causing $985 in damage, the tires of an Armstrong Ditchwitch, causing $1,840 in damage and the tires of a trailer, causing $320 in damage.

Leads are exhausted in the case.

Chapel Hill police received reports of fraud at 10 a.m.

Reports state that an unknown offender used the victim's name and account number to cash a check at Wachovia.

The amount of money taken was not specified.

The case is under further investigation.

Chapel Hill police arrested Julius Gilchrist, 37, of Chapel Hill.

Reports state Gilchrist was detained for failure to appear in court after he was found loitering on Sykes Street.

During the arrest, he was found to possess a crack pipe in the liner of his jacket, reports state.

He was charged with one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and one count of misdemeanor failure to appear. He was confined on a $150 bond at Orange County Jail.

His court date has been set for May 3 at Orange County District Court in Hillsborough.
